On the subject of palabras…

“Words matter. If you cannot say what you mean, then you cannot possibly mean what you say…” a phrase so elegantly delivered by the character Mr. Johnston in the movie “The Last Emperor.”

On that note, I’m off to tell stories to little cute Korean preschoolers, hoping they will learn a few new English words and English songs!

Parmesan Spinach Balls

What can go wrong with a combo of parmesan + spinach + bread all rolled in one?? Nothing! This recipe is quick (took me about 15 minutes to prepare and another 20 minutes to bake), simple, and muy deliciosa!! It’s great as finger food at a party, as an appetizer for a meal, or as a snack!

Wedding invitations

Our invites arrived yesterday, thanks to my dear friends Lesley and Errol who had to mule them out here to Los Angeles from Singapore en route to Coachella. The cards are lovely!

However, we had to source for envelopes for our RSVP cards here in L.A. since there were no decently priced envelopes in Singapore that could match the unconventionally sized card (4″X4″). We went to my favorite paper store in the world – Paper Source – which had a branch in Beverly Hills, but still did not find any envelopes to fit that size. In the end, we decided to mount the card on another card so it can fit into a bigger, more readily available sized envelope, upon one of the store assistants’ suggestions. (Both Bryan and I were very impressed with his help and creativity in helping us solve this problem!) We love our RSVP cards even more now. And yes, they fit perfectly into the envelopes we picked out from the paper source.

So we used: Paper – folded, plum colored snaps, a snap setter, a hammer, glue stick, and our RSVP card to get this:

Lost is back!!

Loved the new episode. Can’t believe the hour went by so quickly! More secrets revealed, tho, as we know, they tend not to answer our questions directly and like to bring up new ones. SO, who is the real baddie? Shrugs. Apparently, the last episode of this season will feature yet another twist which means I’m not even going to try to read too much into these revelations. We’ll definitely have to wait till 2010 to find out. I thought there were WAY too many commercials but hey, if that’s what’s keeping this show so darn good, I’ll watch ‘em with no complaints. Hopefully LOST will keep up the awesome plot till the very end.

We’re going to Coachella on Sunday!!

I decided to just do it. Coachella is one of the many things I want to do while in the U.S. (and, by default, Bryan was dragged along in this…even though he’s been to Coachella x? times and has kinda grown out of it). I thought: since we haven’t got more months here (not for the next 5 years, at least), and since we aren’t getting any younger, why not just do it – for one day at least? Last night, Bryan and I went on ebay to hunt for tickets and won a bid for 2 for $100 tickets. (Hello Justice! Hello Dimitri from Paris! Danny Tenaglia!) Now I just hope the tickets are legit and will get sent to me in time for this Sunday. I have yet to break the news to my two good friends flying in to LA from Singapore primarily to attend the festival (yeah, they are super duper music enthusiasts). That’ll be my welcome gift to them. How egggciting!!!
