The B-man

Twas Bry’s birthday this past Thursday. He turned treinta y tres. (Which, coincidentally and unrelatedly to this post, is also the name of a little town in Uruguay…)

Here is a rehash of what we did that day, along with some pictures from the little b-day celebration for him…

Breakfast: Bagels!!! Thanks to my baking session with Maya and Teresa in San Diego, I realized that bagels were really simple to make!

Lunch: Flower Drum Restaurant in Melbourne City – one of the finest Chinese restaurants we’ve ever been, thanks to a big treat from one of Bry’s friend’s parents from SoCal who were in town. The Peking duck was, oohlala, so succulent, tasty, and had some delicately crispy skin…MMmm I’m still salivating just thinking about it!

Dinner: BBQ lambchops with mint leaves, garlic, and olive oil dip; saffron and cumin seeds rice; potatoes with bay leaves, stir fried bak choy and broccoli; and SODA!!

Dessert: (Which wasn’t ready till the next day; LOL!!) Blueberries with NY style cheesecake, one of Bry’s favorite cakes. It was also my first attempt at baking a whole cheesecake (I used to make little cheesecake tartlets), and was a little nervous. Thankfully, it came out great; I was especially delighted by its smooth creamy texture along with its delicious crispy crust! Recipe from joyofbaking.com.

And now we need to start exercising…!!

Etsy store #2?

So many people have been asking me if I am gonna stop creating once I find a job, and my answer is: NO! :-)

Cherbie’s Creations will still go on for as long as possible…in fact, I have been working on a second store, featuring fun and cute jewelry like these fabric covered ear studs…I just haven’t found the courage to upload them and start it rolling yet.

Very soon, NO MORE stay-at-home-wife!

YAAAY! I promised to broadcast this piece of news loudly and proudly when I get it so here it is:

My Speech-Language Pathology credentials FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY got approved today! This came 4.5 months after I submitted my application. So I’m ecstatic and SOOOO thankful to God!! For those who do not know, I got my M.A. SLP degree @ San Diego State, but left almost a couple months after graduation to get married in Singapore, and to move to Australia. Because my training was in America, the Australians needed proof that my SLP training was legit and on par with theirs. The wait was frustrating and oftentimes emotionally draining but it’s ALL history now that I got my approval!

What now? This means I can start applying for SLP jobs!!!! It’s been almost eight months since I last did anything SLP related so I’m naturally a little bit nervous about starting up again but better earlier than later, right? I guess I’m gonna get really busy with job applications this week! Thanks also to all of you who have been SO kind and SO supportive over the last few months. Y’all ROCK.

Bry and I are gonna go for a celebration lunch and dinner today. It’s also his birthday week so this piece of news also made for a great (early) birthday gift for him!!!!
