stepping out into the light. slowly. confidently.

(Daylesford, Victoria, Australia, taken on our recent trip to Victoria’s spa country…)

i am still here. and would like to share these verses i was reminded of in a book i’m reading: created for His glory: God’s purpose for redeeming your life. II corinthians 4:16-18

16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

whatever good times you are enjoying can be gone in a moment; whatever bad times you are enduring may seem interminable. which is why it is so important to fix our eyes on everlasting things. on everlasting hope. on the One who will never fail: our sovereign God who tells us that He will always work things out for good for those who love Him. for that is the only sure ticket to consistent happiness.

as i’m writing this, i am reminding myself not to be a fair weathered Christian as i have so often been. my understanding of Christianity had been so wrong before. and now, i still struggle to trust Him completely. but i want to trust Him completely. i thank Him for unfavorable opportunities for me to exercise my faith.
